Entrepreneurship for Engineers

In the engineering entrepreneurship (E-SHIP) program, students from many majors learn how to create new and innovative products, services, and businesses. Entrepreneurs seek out opportunities, secure and employ resources, and provide leadership to create something of value. Apply this entrepreneurial mindset to:

  • champion product, software, or service ideas to stakeholders, including partners, employees, customers, investors, and management
  • manage ambiguity, one of the most critical skills for an entrepreneur
  • learn the process and systems to solve business challenges

The program is taught by faculty with real-world business startup experience including a traffic technology startup with an internet of things (IoT) focus, an environmental engineering firm, a manufacturer of scientific instruments, one of the early network equipment companies, national retail and manufacturing optical company, an international oil and gas exploration, and production company as well as PR and marketing firms.
